Part of Manchester's appeal is that it's a city that's constantly evolving. It's home of the Industrial Revolution, Man United (and City!), Coronation Street, the Gallagher brothers and the coolest club culture. It's all this, but it's grown into so much more besides.

Throughout its history, Manchester has been a pacesetter and examples of this can be seen everywhere. The Imperial War Museum North and The Lowry are both glittering symbols of modern architecture. In sport, Manchester United is one of Britain's most successful football clubs, and of course the city hosted the spectacular Commonwealth Games in 2002. The list is endless...

Manchester Art Gallery is super-hip, Whitworth Art Gallery is diversity and breadth personified and The Lowry is a mecca for LS Lowry fans. Of course, there's so much more going on than just visual art. The Royal Exchange and MEN Arena play host to all of today's artistic greats including Sir Elton John, McFly and even international boxers.
